Bérczi Zsófia: SIVATAGTEMPLOM


című térvázlatba installált fotókiállítására a sivatagi romvárosokban élő nők fiktív életéről.



„Bérczi Zsófia mintegy kutatóként, „etnográfusként” keresi fel a mítoszok forrását, Egyiptomot, és az itt összegyűjtött leletekből alakítja saját mítoszát, mitológiáját. Fotói lebegő álomvilág képei, egy költői, szubjektív világkép dokumentumai, ahol a ruhák jelmezek, a helyszínek díszletek. Ezek mögé rejtőzve teremt képzeletbelit abból, ami az itt élő nők számára súlyos valóság – ettől a képek expresszívek, reálisak és szürreálisak is. Más olvasatban dokumentumai az archaikus világ és a modern hightech ütközésének: ahol a nőket nem lehet fényképezni, ott a fotós helyettesíti, és a digitális technikával montírozza, sokszorosítja őket. Szimbolikus jelentőségű, fekete, lágy szobraival behatárolja, betölti, megtestesíti és uralja a teret. S nem csak a kép terét, hanem a képekkel a kiállítóteret is. A Váci utcai VAM ART & DESIGN GALÉRIA pincéjében a paravánokból képzett tagolt tér sivatagi kunyhókhoz hasonlatos, melyekből a képeken át nézünk kifelé. Érdemes meditálni rajtuk. Mit látni: fotót, festményt, hiperreált? Pszeudo-dokumentumot, vagy stilizált feminista képet? „Vera icona”-t (igaz képet) vagy önreflexiót, önvallomást, –feltárást." (Palotai János)

Zsofia Berczi, entitled: DESERT TEMPLE.


The exhibition offers a glimpse into the fictive life of women living in ruins of the desert within a spatial installation.





Zsófia Bérczi, as a researcher, as an “ethnographer”, seeks the source of myths, Egypt, and from the relics collected here she develops her own mythology. Her photos comprise the images of floating dreamworlds, documents of a poetic, subjective world concept, where garments are costumes, and locations are sets. Hidden behind these, she creates an imaginary world from the heavy reality of women from these parts – and this renders the images expressive, realistic and surreal at once. According to another reading, these are documents of the collision of the archaic universe and modern high-tech: where it is impossible to photograph the women, the photographer substitutes them with others, and she mounts and reproduces them digitally. With her black, tender sculptures of symbolic value, she defines, fills, embodies and dominates the space. And not only the space of the image, but with her images, the exhibition space too. In the cellar space of the Váci utca VAM ART & DESIGN GALLERY, we peek out from behind the screens that create a desert cityscape approaching the hovels there. It is worth taking time to meditate on them. For what do we see: photos? paintings? hyper-reality?
